Christ and the Early Church
Equipped with a deeper understanding of God’s plan of salvation revealed in the Old Testament, second-year students will explore the fulfillment of that plan in the life, Passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The second year begins with an in-depth study of the life of Christ, as presented in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. After these “Synoptic Gospels”, we turn to the Acts of the Apostles to discover how the Church continues to proclaim and make present the saving work of Jesus, from the Apostolic Age to the present day. And, keeping in mind that even St. Peter acknowledged that there is much in St. Paul’s letters that can be difficult to understand (see 2 Peter 3:15-16), we end the second year with a careful reading and close study of the Letters of St. Paul.
