The St. John Vianney Theological Seminary Lay Division continues to offers retreats and workshops for spiritual enrichment throughout the year. We welcome all those who are interested to experience and learn about the richness of our faith. You don’t have to be a current or former student of our program; so please, come join us! And feel free to invite your family, friends and neighbors to join us, too! Each year, we host the following annual events:
Retreats & Workshops
2020 Lenten Retreat: “Perfection and the Will of God”
(with Mr. Daniel Campbell)
St. Alphonsus Liguori wrote of the will of God that, “Perfections is founded entirely on the love of God: ‘Charity is the bond of perfection;’ and perfect love of God means the complete union of our will with God’s: ‘The principal effect of love is so to united the wills of those who love each other as to make them will the same things. It follows then, that the more one unites his will with the Divine will, the greater will be his love of God.'” Although doing God’s will is what we desire, we often struggle to find the unity of wills with God that St. Alphonsus Liguori spoke about. Join us, then, as we discuss what God’s plan is for us and how to discern His will!
The 2020 Lenten Retreat is scheduled for Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the St. John Vianney Theological Seminary!
“Servant of the Word” Workshop
Held on a Saturday during February/March of each year, the Servant of the Word Workshop is a chance for us to honor a person who is highly engaged in studying the Catholic faith and bringing it to all. The Servant of the Word Workshop usually has a theme which the honoree speaks on in 2 – 3 talks, and includes light breakfast and lunch. Past SOTW Workshops have honored Dr. Tim Gray, Dr. Peter S. Williamson, and Dr. Edward Sri. Don’t miss the 2020 Servant of the Word Workshop on Saturday, February 1, 2020, where we will be honoring Dr. Thomas Smith!!
